Our Partner Organizations

Out in Africa Ride aims to bring together a number of nonprofit organizations across the African continent that are working on LGBT rights issues. We are currently supporting two groups directly: the Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum in Uganda and the Gay and Lesbian Network in South Africa. We are interested in adding more organizations, so email us if your group would like to get involved.

Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum

The Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum is a Ugandan organization based in Kampala that promotes the respect and observance of the rights of marginalized groups. HRAPF was instrumental in the legal battle against Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Act, which resulted in a Constitutional Court decision to overturn the law. HRAPF is currently fighting attempts to reinstate the law, as well as engaging in numerous other advocacy campaigns and outreach programs.

Gay and Lesbian Network

The Gay and Lesbian Network is a Pietermaritzburg-based organization in South Africa that functions as a counseling space and outreach coordinator. The GLN operates a helpline for LGBT individuals and provides awareness and sensitivity training to an array of civil services in the local area, such as health care providers, religious leaders, and the police. The organization also runs a drama group for young adults.
